Toxfree provides affordable, state-of-the-art air analysis for chlordane, heptachlor, aldrin, and dieldrin in homes and assists owners with reducing the health effects posed by breathing these insecticides. Over 30 million homes in the United States were treated with chlordane / heptachlor or aldrin / dieldrin before these insecticides were banned. These insecticides were applied under your current or prospective house and are still degassing into the indoor air, producing levels that cause disease. If you are buying a house built before 1990 and live in a termite-infested area, or if your family is experiencing symptoms of upper respiratory infections, headaches, anxiety, or depression or diseases (diabetes, neurological disorders, chemical sensitivity, breast cancers) then consider taking preventive steps to ensure or improve the health of your family (see Television, Radio, and Newspaper accounts of health effects of chlordane on families). Dr. Cassidy has been studying the health effects of chlordane for 20 years and has provided accurate, sensitive air tests for 10 years to hundreds of clients buying homes or living in contaminated homes. Because of the scope and the adverse health risks of breathing these insecticides, Dr. Cassidy’s primary focus is on testing (providing home test kits) and reducing the indoor air levels of these insecticides. In houses with basements, chlordane was applied to the earth before construction or pumped through drill holes under the floor and in or behind the walls, allowing the vapors to enter through cracks or beside pipes. In houses with slabs, chlordane was applied to the earth before pouring the slab.
